KAY A. ELSASSER was born and reared in Russell, Kansas. She is married to Allen A Elasser and they are the parents of two married sons who are both engineers. Kay's legal career commenced in 1957 as a legal secretary and paralegal. When her older son started college, so did Kay, at the same time continuing full-time employment as a paralegal. After graduation from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1985, she entered St. Mary's University School of Law. Kay received a J.D. degree in 1988 and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas. Her career as a lawyer began in a general practice with Tom Joseph, P.C. and continued until she became associated with Baucum and Steed, P.C. in January 1995. Kay practices primarily in the areas of transactional real estate, low income housing, wills and probate, and contracts. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Western, Southern and Northern Districts of Texas. Her memberships include the State Bar of Texas, San Antonio Bar Association, American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Bexar County Women's Bar Association, Texas Land Title Association and San Antonio Bar Foundation.
Kay's reported cases include Billie A. Shaw v. USA, 20 F3rd 182 (1994) and De La Rosa v. Kaples, 812 S.W.2d 432 (Tex. App.--San Antonio 1991).
